Undisturbed Labour and Birth Facility Index (ULaB)

An evidence-based, facility quality measure to assess readiness for optimal service delivery.

What is it:

The ULab Index is a quality improvement tool used by hospitals and birth centers to assess the impact of policies, protocols, and intrapartum environments on perinatal health outcomes and experience.

How can I use the ULaB Index:

Quality Improvement teams select from a series of 64 evidence-based indicators across 18 domains known to impact labour and birth outcomes and costs of care. Once completed, the team can review scores to identify key areas of existing quality care, and priority areas for improvement. Participants then access a best practice resource package to inform their change plans before the next cycle of self-assessment.
