High-Risk Drinking and Alcohol Use Disorder
This guideline supplement reviews the evidence pertaining to care principles, screening and risk assessment methods, and treatment and continuing care options for pregnant individuals with high risk alcohol use and AUD. This document emphasises the need for a non-judgmental, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally safe approach to care that accommodates patients’ individual choices and circumstances. Within this framework, the present document recommends a holistic and integrated care plan with appropriate use of the full range of available treatment options and harm reduction services.
